Are you a foreigner, expat, or OCI/PIO navigating the glorious chaos of Mumbai?
Do you ever find yourself wondering:
Why is there a cow in the middle of traffic?
How many kinds of chai are too many?
Where on Earth is the actual queue?

Welcome to Foreign Xchange

A friendly, fun and safe space to connect with fellow expats, share your Mumbai highs and hiccups, and build your tribe in this wild, wonderful city. Your support system designed as a party.

What We’re About

Meet Our Founders

Mitali Srivastava Hough

The resident creative wizard, cat whisperer, and coffee-fueled multitasker. Mitali is a former TV reporter turned advertising badass, having led strategy at Ogilvy, McCann, DDB Mudra — and then said, “You know what, I’ll just start my own agencies.” So she did.

She’s the founder of Utopeia Communicationz and The Equal Agency, blending creativity with social impact before it was trendy. Currently, she’s also cooking up a tech-meets-storytelling venture with AR Rahman (yes, that Oscar winning musical maestro, AR Rahman).

Oh — she also runs Bombay Expats, started by Naomi and Heather in 2008. Mitali and Jemma Advani took the reins and grew it into a 6,000-strong community, hosting events to connect expats and locals.

Foreign Xchange was started by Mitali to exclusively cater to foreigners, offering a more focused space for expats to connect, share experiences, and feel at home in Mumbai.
Outside work, she’s a cat rescuer, armchair philosopher, and wife to Marcus — who claims to love her even more than the 3 cats they call their kids (mostly because she doesn’t shed on the furniture).

Superpower: Turning chaos into community and dreams into impact.

Victoria Jefferies

British expat, community cheerleader, and proud mum of three grown-up humans. Victoria landed in Mumbai in 2023 and jumped straight into local life — not just with wide eyes, but wide arms.

With a background in early childhood education, she now dedicates her time to three Mumbai-based NGOs focused on children’s education and welfare. She also serves as Co-President of Mumbai Connexions, helping expats feel less “What is happening?!” and more “I’ve got this.”
Victoria and her husband Mike have recently rescued two blind cats — proving their hearts are as big as their expat adventures.

She’s warm, wise, and wickedly funny — basically the expat godmother you never knew you needed.

Superpower: Building bridges between hearts, cultures, and conversations — often over a strong cuppa.
